New ownership begins renovations on Detroit Lions' former home in Pontiac
The Silverdome's roof was deflated Jan. 3, 2012 as it underwent renovations. (WDIV, ClickOnDetroit.com)PONTIAC, Mich. – Renovations are underway at the Detroit Lions' former home in Pontiac.
The Silverdome's roof was deflated Thursday while the group that owns the building says a new roof with solar panels will be installed this spring.

They're updating the Silverdome so it can be an option for a variety of events.
The Lions stopped playing at the dome in 2002. They've been at Ford Field in downtown Detroit ever since.
