Central Michigan University student killed in hit-and-run

Freshman Ryan Tsatsos was walking with friends Sunday morning on Crawford Road when he was hit

MT. PLEASANT, Mich. – An 18-year-old Central Michigan University student from Macomb Township was killed early Sunday morning in an off-campus hit-and-run.

Freshman Ryan Tsatsos was walking with friends when he was hit along Crawford Road near Concourse Drive.

The university said Michigan State Police are looking for an older model, dark-colored sedan that likely has damage to its front passenger side.

Police said the sedan was headed north on Crawford Road at the time of the crash.

Tsatsos is a 2015 graduate of De La Salle High School in Warren. The school issued this statement on Monday:

"The De La Salle Family is saddened by the passing of Ryan Tsatsos, a graduate of the Class of 2015 in a tragic accident this past weekend on the campus of Central Michigan University. As a school community, we are praying for Ryan's parents, Julie and Paul, his extended family, his classmates and teammates at De La Salle, and all those who loved Ryan, and we grieve with them as we mourn the loss of a young man whose warmth and generous spirit will be sorely missed."
