Dearborn police make arrest in Fairlane Mall shooting

DEARBORN, Mich. – Police have made an arrest in connection to a shooting Monday afternoon inside Fairlane Mall.

Police said an argument between two men turned violent when one of them pulled out a gun and fired shots inside the mall. Investigators said a 24-year-old man was shopping at a jewelry store with a friend when they got into an argument. One man grabbed a pair of Cartier glasses off the other man's face. That man became angry and started shooting.

No injuries were reported.

Police said the 24-year-old man is a concealed pistol license holder.

Customers and employees at the mall were placed under a shelter-in-place for at least an hour Monday evening.

Police have arrested one person.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday they have received a warrant request from the Dearborn Police Department.
