DEARBORN, Mich. – Michigan State Police say there's an embezzlement investigation at Dearborn City Hall.
Police arrived Wednesday with a search warrant at the office of City Clerk Kathleen Buda and left with boxes of documents. Deputy city attorney Laurie Ellerbrake says Dearborn officials are cooperating but don't have details of the investigation.
Ellerbrake says she was taken "totally by surprise."
Lt. Mike Shaw says the warrant was for an "ongoing embezzlement investigation." He declined to make additional remarks.
Dearborn officials were alerted only moments before the search warrant was presented.
