Detroit officer dies after hit-and-run; police arrest Lincoln Park Man

Local 4 sources identify 40-year-old Myron Jarrett as officer killed in crash

DETROIT – Local 4 sources identify Myron Jarrett 40, as the officer killed in a hit-and-run.

An officer with the Detroit Police Department died Friday night after being hit by a vehicle on the city's west side -- and now, police have the driver of that car -- a man from Lincoln Park, in custody.

Steven Patrick Guzina, 54, was arrested Friday night for leaving the scene of a deadly crash involving a police officer, according to authorities.

Two Detroit police officers were involved in the wreck, but the other wasn't hurt.

Police reported earlier in the night the injured officer was listed in critical condition. Officials confirmed a short time later he died.

The officers were riding in the same cruiser when it was struck. The driver got out of the car and ran off, heading north.

It's not clear exactly what happened, but investigators said several cars were involved in the crash at Puritan Avenue and Monica Street.
