US Marine missing for 19 days since vanishing after night out in Metro Detroit

Douglas Calhoun's family searching for any information on disappearance

DETROIT – The search for a United States Marine who went missing earlier this month after a night out with his friends in Metro Detroit is continuing as his family searches for answers.

As a brother, son, Marine and chef, Douglas Calhoun's family said there's no way he would have just walked out of his life.

Calhoun has been missing for 19 days and his friends and family gathered Monday night to walk the area of Evergreen Road and Fenkell Avenue on Detroit's west side.

"It has been 19 days and we haven't heard from him so we want to look around the area where his car was last seen," sister Dayna Phillips said.

They passed out flyers and searched vacant lots, looking for any sign of Calhoun. Police recovered his car in the area, which is why they chose the spot.

His credit cards have been used, but his family said it wasn't by him.

"He would never put the family through this, ever," cousin Herman Remus said.

The last anybody heard from Calhoun was when he called a friend to let him know he had arrived home safely from a party. After that, Calhoun vanished. Police call the disappearance "suspicious."

The family is offering a $6,500 reward for information that leads to Calhoun.

"As the days go by, it's just getting harder," cousin Michelle Ingram said. "We have to stay strong, but we're going to find him. Somebody's got to give us some kind of answer."
