Man charged in suspected drunken driving crash that killed 19-year-old in Saline

SALINE, Mich. – A suspected drunken driver was arraigned Tuesday morning in connection with a fatal crash in Saline.

Matthew Stoy, 35, of Adrian, is charged with operating a motor vehicle with a high blood-alcohol content causing death.

A 19-year-old man from Saline was killed Sunday afternoon when a suspected drunk driver disobeyed a stop sign and caused a crash at Moon and Bemis roads.

Deputies from the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office said Jacob Rauguth was in a car with a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man when the vehicle was T-boned at the intersection.

Rauguth, the driver, was killed and his two passengers were taken to the hospital. They are in stable condition.

"There was a southbound vehicle that, from preliminary reports, ran the stop sign and collided with an eastbound vehicle that was eastbound on Moon Road," Sergeant David Archer said.

Stoy has a previous drunk driving conviction in New York. He was given a $50,000 bond.
