Deputies say the teen was ejected from the vehicle when it rolled over while negotiating the turn. A second ATV rider, identified as a 16-year-old from Pontiac, was uninjured. Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said.

The 15-year-old was transported to McLaren Oakland Hospital in serious but stable condition and is expected to be transferred to Children’s Hospital for additional treatment.

The incident remains under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit, and deputies say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
