Man also accused of stealing more than $2,000 worth of tools

A 36-year-old Ferndale man was arrested Sunday night for allegedly stealing from vehicles at 10:33 p.m. in Royal Oak, police said.

Police responded after a resident reported that the tires and rims had been stolen from his vehicle in the 3200 block of Belle Court. A neighbor reported seeing a man leaving the area in a white contractor van. The driver drove over the curb and the grass, speeding, and went south on Coolidge Highway, the resident said.

A Berkley police officer reported seeing the man stealing from another vehicle in the 3300 block of Parker Drive. Royal Oak officers recovered the four stolen tires and rims from the Belle Court theft. Officers also recovered stolen tools worth more than $2,000 from the vehicle on Parker Drive, according to police.
