Police: Man shoots, kills friend, then himself in Raisin Township

Michigan State Police investigating apparent murder-suicide between friends

RAISIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Michigan State Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that occurred in Raisin Township last week.

According to Michigan State Police (MSP), at about 9:20 p.m. on June 9, officers found bodies of two men in the 2000 block of Laberdee Road when responding to a report of shots fired. The men, 24-year-old Joseph Niblack and 25-year-old Michael Madero, were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Witnesses reportedly saw the men get into an altercation, then saw Niblack shoot Madero and then himself, killing them both. Police say Niblack, from Florida, and Madero, from Raisin Township, were longtime friends.
