Troopers said they received a call in August from city officials who suspected Johnson of embezzling money in the form of unauthorized payments to herself.

In total, officials believed $23,000 had been embezzled.

An arrest warrant was issued for Johnson on Sept. 3. When she was notified, Johnson turned herself in at the Crawford County Jail on Sept. 9, state police said.

She was arraigned Tuesday (Sept. 28) in 46th District Court on one count of embezzlement by an agent or trustee between $20,000 and $50,00.

Johnson is being held on $20,000 or 10% bond. She is scheduled to return to court Nov. 9.
