West Bloomfield Township man arrested in 1999 sexual assault at Oakland Township golf course

Suspect linked by DNA to 2000 assault at Penn State University

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A West Bloomfield Township man has been arrested in connection with a 1999 sexual assault.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard provided more information about the case at a press conference at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.

The sheriff’s office said the man was arrested and arraigned on sexual assault charges from an assault that happened at an Oakland Township golf course in 1999.

The suspect has also been linked by DNA to a 2000 sexual assault at a golf course on the campus of Penn State University. Bouchard said the investigation ramped up in 2021 with help from new investigative tools that use DNA.

Bouchard said the suspect is an avid golfer and plays golf all over the country.

The man has been arraigned and was not given a bond.
