Telegraph Road reopens in Dearborn Heights after teen hit while crossing street

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – A teenager was in critical condition Monday after being hit by a vehicle while attempting to cross Telegraph Road in Dearborn Heights, sources say.

On Monday, July 24, a teenage child, possibly around 16 years old, was trying to cross Telegraph Road when they were hit by a car. It is unclear if the child was crossing the four-lane road using a crosswalk.

Sources told Local 4 that the teen was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

The driver who struck the teen reportedly stopped at the scene. It’s unknown what type of vehicle they were driving.

Michigan State Police are assisting with an investigation. Telegraph Road was closed at Ford Road in Dearborn Heights as of around 12:30 p.m. Monday, but reopened around 3:15 p.m.
