CANON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Canton Sports Center in Canton Township is celebrating reopening for the 2024 spring season with a “Light Up The Park” event after undergoing $1.2 million renovations.

The “Light Up The Park” event will take place from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 2024. There will be a reopening ceremony at 8 p.m. Softball games, baseball games, a pizza part, glow party contests, and DJ Royce are scheduled for the event.

The facility is located in Canton Township’s Victory Park and was recently upgraded with a new LED lighting system to improve visibility in the 12 softball fields. Other improvements include the replacement of concrete sidewalks surrounding the facility and sidewalks leading to the softball fields. The rest of the sidewalks will be replaced in October.

“The Canton Sports Center is an incredible asset to our community, as well as a high-demand sports destination,” said Greg Hohenberger, Canton Leisure Services Director. “All of these renovations show that Canton Township is committed to recreation and to providing opportunities for all ages to participate in baseball, softball, cricket, lacrosse, flag football, and more.”
