‘Pointless plastic’

Maine and Maryland have boycotted plastics. So its bring your own bags or be charged to use theirs. I have used recycle bags for years. No plastic bags here. Plus I am a huge recycler and try to not buy anything plastic if I can help it. Most things I buy are cardboard or glass or metal. If I run out of my own bags then I just put them in the cart load into the car and home. Same with Sams Club. Walmart was suppose to eliminate plastic bags but so far have failed to enforce this. Otherwise its bring your own bags or no thank you to the clerks if I cannot do the self check out myself. I do side with ending plastics.

J S, Earth Day: How one grocery shopper takes steps to avoid pointless plastic

We shop at Sam’s Club and there are no bags involved at all—from cart to car in one easy motion. lol

Ejay Edwards, Earth Day: How one grocery shopper takes steps to avoid pointless plastic

The solution to the plastic problem is to calculate the cost of fully recycling all packaging materials and disposable products and charging the manufacturer or importer a fee equal to that cost. Single-use plastics would disappear overnight.

Many of these corporations are only profitable because they dupe the public into covering their recycling/disposal/cleanup costs. Anyone who wants a clearer picture can do a browser search on "externalities."

Dart Container, which is located in Michigan, is one of the worst offenders. It’s hard to think of many companies that have done more harm to the world.

Phil, Earth Day: How one grocery shopper takes steps to avoid pointless plastic

I use heavy duty cloth bags when food shop it is so much easy and can be wash as needed . those plastic bags always end up at some land fill trash dump and in the stomachs of some wild life too.

‘Detroit’ sign

My husband and I saw it and we didn’t think it was too bad. Although I can’t believe it cost that much money.

Linda, Local residents ask people to leave the new 'Detroit' sign alone

$400,000 for a road sign that’s not inspirational. We’ve said it all before, why not spend a little more and get something better that actually celebrates Detroit other than block letters?

Allergies

Yep. I have to sleep with the windows open, but pay for it in the morning. Swollen head, sinuses, and I look like a beast, but nobody ever notices.

I have a bit of sinus congestion but am fine without OTC medication.

GM leaving the RenCen

The building is outdated and impractical. Have you gone down there lately? It is like a ghost town. It was beautiful and exciting at one time.

Earlyday, Future of RenCen uncertain after General Motors plans relocation to Hudson Tower in Detroit

Why don’t they put the movie theater back? I went there lots of time. It was great!

The Dutchman, Future of RenCen uncertain after General Motors plans relocation to Hudson Tower in Detroit

This move strikes me as a long term solution to a short term problem. It sounds to me like GM should have employed a better management company to fill vacant office space rather than accept the expense of relocating.

Roger Von Deylen, Future of RenCen uncertain after General Motors plans relocation to Hudson Tower in Detroit

I am hoping that they do something with the building and it is not allowed to decay.

One killed along I-75

If you can’t get off the road safely, stay in your car on the freeway!!! Today’s cars, with multiple air bags, are the safest place to be if you cannot get to a place well off the road and away from traffic. Even in a multiple car collision, the safest place is almost always in your car.
