Ohio driver arrested after police chase through Monroe County

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A driver from Ohio was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop and leading police on a chase through Monroe County.

Police in Washington Township, Ohio, called Monroe County officials at 2:13 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, while they were following a car north toward the state line on I-75.

A 30-year-old Toledo man had fled a traffic stop in Toledo, and officials believed that he might have warrants.

Monroe County deputies successfully deployed stop sticks as the driver passed LaPlasiance Road. They then took over the pursuit as it continued north on I-75 into Wayne County.

Deputies stopped following the car at Dix Highway and I-75. A short time later, Michigan State Police troopers reported that the car was on I-96, near Schaefer Highway.

The driver was arrested and brought to the Monroe County Jail.
