Man arrested after assaulting 7-year-old girl at Detroit park Girl expected to be OK
DETROIT – A 7-year-old girl was assaulted Tuesday afternoon at a Detroit park.
The assault happened at Lloyd H. Ryan Playground at around 3:45 p.m. on Oct. 8.
When police responded to the park, they found the 7-year-old with lacerations underneath her neck.
Prosecutors said the man approached her and cut her throat with a knife.
The victim was taken to a hospital and received stitches—police said she is stable.
With the community’s help, police tracked down the suspect and arrested him.
The 73-year-old suspect’s family told police he was suffering from a mental illness at the time of the incident.
Gary Lansky has been charged with assault with intent to murder and felonious assault.
