Surveillance video captures Detroit police cruiser colliding with driver after running red light

DETROIT – Surveillance video captured a police cruiser crashing into a driver after running a red light on Detroit’s west side.

The crash between a Detroit Police Department officer and a man occurred on Monday (May 19) around 12:40 a.m. near West Davison and Ewald Circle.

Police said the officer was taken to a Metro Detroit hospital for precautionary reasons while the driver was treated for injuries.

DPD said the crash was under investigation.
