Detroiter faces second murder case

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – A 32-year-old man from Detroit has been charged with first-degree murder for a fatal Oakland County shooting in 2022.

It happened just after midnight, Dec. 19, 2022. According to authorities, David Willis II, was leaving a restaurant in Madison Heights when an SUV pulled up to him in the parking lot. Willis was reportedly shot multiple times by someone in the SUV after an argument.

A joint investigation by the Madison Heights Police Department and FBI identified the suspect as 32-year-old Nino Denzel-Wesley Red.

Red has been charged with first-degree murder and three firearm charges. If convicted, Red could spend the rest of his life in prison without parole.

Red has been incarcerated since January for second-degree murder as part of a plea agreement for a deadly shooting in 2023. Javonte Gardner was also reportedly shot multiple times during an argument.

Red’s earliest possible release date is in 2039.
