REDFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police are investigating after Detroit rapper Skilla Baby was injured in a shooting on Thursday evening. He was struck three times while driving his vehicle in Redford Township, police said.
At about 7 p.m. on May 22, officers responded to 8 Mile and Centralia, near Beech Daly, after receiving a report of a shooting and a car crash.
When they arrived, they found an unoccupied vehicle with apparent bullet holes.
Police learned that a witness had taken the victim, 26-year-old Trevon Gardner, the rapper who goes by Skilla Baby, to the hospital.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect fired more than 20 rounds at Skilla Baby’s car from a dark-colored SUV before leaving the area.
The rapper was struck three times and is recovering from his injuries.
After being shot, he crashed his vehicle, according to police.
On Thursday, a police source told Local 4 that Skilla Baby was driving alone, and those close to him believe he may have been targeted.
The investigation is ongoing.
