Pickup truck hits Amish buggy in Michigan, 5 kids critically injured Second crash involving Amish buggy within week

MONTCALM TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A pickup truck collided with an Amish buggy Tuesday evening, critically injuring six people.

It happened Tuesday, Aug. 12, in Montcalm Township, roughly 30 miles northeast of Grand Rapids.
According to authorities , a pickup truck was traveling east on Dickerson Lake Road, near M-91, when it attempted to pass the buggy. Upon seeing a westbound car, the driver returned to the original lane and struck the buggy.
Police said there were five children and two adults in the buggy at the time. All five children and a woman were taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
The pickup truck driver and the man riding in the buggy suffered only minor injuries.
It’s the second crash between an automobile and an Amish buggy on Michigan’s west side within a week .
