Good Samaritans rescue 5 from burning speedboat on Lake Huron

TAWAS, Mich. – A 35-foot speedboat was destroyed in a fire on Lake Huron.

It happened Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Tawas Bay in Iosco County. According to authorities, five people were taken to shore by Good Samaritans before first responders arrived.

The U.S. Coast Guard quickly established a safety zone around the burning boat while fire crews from Tawas and East Tawas worked to extinguish the flames.

No injuries were reported.
