PONTIAC, Mich. – An 82-year-old man died in Pontiac five days after being hit by a truck while in a crosswalk.

It’s the sixth time a vehicle has killed a pedestrian in Pontiac this year.

The crash happened just after noon, Oct. 6, near the intersection of Walton Boulevard and Baldwin Avenue. Authorities said a pickup truck driven by a 68-year-old man from Pontiac hit Larry Gene Howard while he was in the crosswalk over Walton Boulevard.

The driver was turning right from Baldwin Avenue onto Walton Boulevard at the time.

Howard was taken to a hospital, where he died Friday, Oct. 10, from his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
