DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – An Illinois man has been arrested for allegedly making a threat against a Dearborn Heights mosque in September, officials said.
The threat was made the day after the attack at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, according to a news release from the city of Dearborn Heights.

The arrest followed a joint investigation that involved the Dearborn Heights and Elgin, Illinois police departments, with support from the FBI, Wayne County Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, and the Detroit & Southeast Michigan Intelligence & Information Center.
Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Kenneth Gehrke, 63, of Elgin, Illinois, and he eventually turned himself in, according to police.
He was transferred to Dearborn Heights and is currently in custody at the Wayne County Jail.
“I am pleased this individual has been located, and now remains in custody,” said Dearborn Heights Police Chief Ahmed Haidar. “The arrest is a great example of local, county, state and federal partners working together to address incidents of this type.
