Here’s where blizzard warnings have been issued in Michigan and how much snow is expected:

Areas where 17-30 inches of snow is possible:

The NWS said a blizzard warning is in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, to 7 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, for the following counties:

  • Keweenaw
  • Ontonagon
  • Northern Houghton
  • Baraga
  • Gogebic

Snow totals in these areas are expected to be between 17 and 30 inches, with wind gusts as high as 55 mph.

“Travel could be very difficult to impossible,” the NWS said. “Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage resulting in power outages.”

Areas where 8-22 inches of snow is possible

A blizzard warning is in effect for Marquette County from 7 a.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday.

According to the NWS, total snow accumulations are expected to be between 8 and 22 inches, with the highest amounts in western portions of the county and the lowest amounts near the far southern area. Wind gusts are expected to be as high as 55 mph.

Areas where 10-17 inches of snow is possible

A blizzard warning is also in effect for Alger County from 1 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Snow totals are expected to be between 10 and 17 inches.

Travel impact

Heavy snowfall rates and blowing snow could reduce visibility and impact travel.

“Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel, have a winter survival kit with you,” the NWS said. “If you get stranded, stay with your vehicle.”
