Fans meet Detroit Lions player while donating winter gear for kids

He says giving back is something near and dear to his heart

DETROITDetroit Lions fans got a chance to meet a player, all while supporting kids in need this holiday season.

The group “Driven by Growth Detroit” hosted its second annual winter gear drive, with help from linebacker Derrick Barnes.

Attendees were encouraged to donate new winter clothing—coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for local kids.

Some of the players ' cleats worn during the “My Cause My Cleats” campaign were also on display.

Barnes wore cleats from a DBG student.

He says giving back is something near and dear to his heart.
