Livingston County man sentenced to life without parole for 2023 deadly shooting 20-year-old killed in 2023

HOWELL, Mich. – A 24-year-old man from Howell will spend the rest of his life behind bars for a deadly 2023 shooting.
It happened in Howell, near the intersection of West and Railroad streets on Aug. 11, 2023 . Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, where they found the man’s body.
Howell police identified the victim as 20-year-old Oghenevwede “Wede” Okagbare.
Reese Hammie was charged with open murder and witness intimidation days after the shooting. He was denied bond .
Police said Hammie had been in custody since the night of the shooting on separate charges for different crimes.
In November, Hammie was convicted of first-degree premeditated murder .
On Tuesday, Jan. 6, Hammie was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
