BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – An investigation is underway after an 88-year-old resident of an assisted living facility was found dead in Brownstown Township, police said.
The woman, who lived at Forest View Assisted Living Facility at 19341 Allen Road, was discovered by a passerby at a nearby business at about 8:14 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, according to a release from Brownstown Township Police Chief Jeff Watson.

The passerby alerted Downriver South Dispatch, prompting a response from police and paramedics. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the 88-year-old had been outside for a significant period and was not dressed appropriately for the cold weather.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy, according to police.
No other information has been released. Police said that the investigation is in its early stages and details could change as new evidence emerges.
