According to a federal criminal complaint unsealed on Feb. 25, 2026, Rose allegedly traded child pornography with a person on a mobile messaging app from February 2025 through September 2025.

The investigation into Rose began in September 2025 when FBI Detroit agents executed a search warrant at an unidentified person’s home. The criminal complaint did not disclose this person’s identity and referred to them as “Subject-1.”

Authorities said Subject-1 had been previously identified for distributing child pornography in the past. His phone was taken during the search.

While federal authorities were looking through Subject-1’s phone, they found an online conversation with another person, later identified as Rose, where the two were exchanging child pornography with each other.

Rose also allegedly exchanged messages with Subject-1 about their mutual sexual interest in children and desire to assault children.

The criminal complaint showed parts of their chat on Jan. 12, 2025, where Rose, with the display name “DJ,” told the unidentified person that he sexually assaulted a 16-year-old boy and called himself “a perv.”

In the same chat, FBI officials provided in the criminal complaint, Rose allegedly said, “How young you looking for [sic].” Subject-1 responded, “10-16.” Rose replied, “Nice, I like any young.” Subject-1 then responded back, “Send some vids let’s trade.”

According to federal authorities, Rose received at least two child sexually abusive videos from Subject-1 on Feb. 15, 2025. On the same day, Rose allegedly sent Subject-1 at least three videos containing child pornography.

On Sept. 27, 2025, FBI officials said Rose sent at least 16 videos containing child pornography to Subject-1.

Authorities identified the phone number associated with the online account as Rose’s, with his address in Ferndale. FBI agents looked through information provided by the Michigan Secretary of State and confirmed Rose’s driver’s license listed the same Ferndale address as his residence.
