Teen who stole $1,300 during Facebook Marketplace sale at Livonia police station sentenced

19-year-old gets 12 months of probation, community service

LIVONIA, Mich. – A 19-year-old from Detroit has been sentenced after stealing $1,300 from a Facebook Marketplace buyer in the parking lot of the Livonia Police Department.

The seller was sentenced to 12 months of probation and 14 days of community service, according to court records.

The victim met the seller in the front parking lot of the Livonia Police Department to complete a Facebook Marketplace sale on Feb. 18, 2026.

The victim approached the driver’s side window of the seller’s car and handed over $1,300 in cash before inspecting the items.

After receiving the cash, the seller drove away without providing the items, police said.

He was taken into custody on the evening of Feb. 26, 2026.

The teen was arraigned Feb. 27, 2026, in the 16th District Court of Livonia. His bond was set at $15,000 at 10%.
