Lou Hatty is sick of looking at it. He’s lived on the 4000 block of Courville Street in East English Village since 1956.

He owns three houses on the block, his own home, plus two others that he rents out.

But it’s the two-story brick-and-wood house next door, one of the rental properties, that has become the bane of his existence.

Grosse Pointe North High School grad Jamie Ding falls on ‘Jeopardy!’ after 31 Wins

Grosse Pointe North High School graduate Jamie Ding saw his 31-game winning run on “Jeopardy!” come to an end Monday night, falling to fellow contestant Greg Shahade.

Jamie Ding, a Metro Detroit native, entered the game on the verge of moving into fourth place on the show’s all-time consecutive wins list.

Detroit couple battles basement flooding for decades; city says they have no record of sewer line

A lifelong Detroit couple has been dealing with a flooded basement for the five decades they’ve lived there, but it’s gotten much worse in the past weeks.

They’ve been calling the city daily asking for help. They weren’t getting anywhere, so they called Local 4 and the city was out within half an hour.

“I had to call Channel 4 news in order to get some response,” Melvin Beasley said. “I just thank God that y’all were able to take care of this matter for me.”

Man accused of killing Melvindale police officer kicked off witness stand in trial

The man accused of killing a Melvindale police officer in 2024 was removed from the witness stand on Monday after mentioning information unrelated to the case.

Michael Lopez, 44, of Southfield, is on trial for allegedly shooting and killing Melvindale Police Officer Mohamed Said on July 21, 2024.

Previously, he was removed from court on Friday after an outburst in court, making allegations against Said, which prosecutors said were false. He was also heard shouting from his holding cell as the trial continued without him on April 24.
