Police said based on preliminary findings, there were indications consistent with child abuse and neglect. Medical personnel also found evidence of prior injuries that appear to be in various stages of healing.

The baby’s parents are minors, police said. Therefore, additional identifying information will not be released due to their age and the sensitivity of the case.

Fowlerville police are waiting for more medical records and expert evaluations before sending the case to the prosecutor’s office for possible charges. No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
