EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety (DPPS) has released additional information regarding an ongoing investigation at Wells Hall, clarifying earlier reports and providing further context.
According to DPPS on Thursday (April 30), officers did not locate a methamphetamine laboratory inside the building during their investigation.
However, the suspect, Xin Tong, 31, was found to be in possession of chemicals and equipment that could be used in the production of methamphetamine.
Officials said the materials were contained within the individual’s personal property.
Police also stated that the felony charge of malicious destruction of a building stems from allegations that the suspect intentionally damaged or destroyed property within Wells Hall between April 10 and April 26.
While law enforcement has identified Tong, university officials said no additional information about him is being released at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
