Macomb County woman says contractor dumped leaves back on her lawn after trying to raise price

Roseville woman has filed a police report against the man

ROSEVILLE, Mich. – A Macomb County woman said a contractor who worked on her lawn dumped all the leaves back on her property after unexpectedly trying to raise the agreed-upon price.

“He had the bag and poured out all the leaves,” said Tracy Anderson as she showed us her Ring doorbell video.

The video shows a contractor making a mess of her lawn.

“I thought he was joking, and he wasn’t,” Anderson said. “He came back in five minutes and he poured every last bag of leaves back out on the lawn.”

The Roseville woman says in early April, a lawn care company removed the leaves on her property.

In November, the company quoted her a spring cleanup at $125. But Anderson says the price jumped to $210 after the job was done.

“When I wouldn’t agree to pay him $210, he said, ‘We can handle this right now, I’m not too far away, and I can come back,’” Anderson said.

We found the lawn care company on Facebook, which was linked to the number Anderson was in contact with. The account is active, posting completed jobs across Metro Detroit. When we called that number, the person who picked up denied having a lawn care company.

“I’m angry for myself, but also for other people,” Anderson said. “How many have you done this to?”

Last week, she received a notice from the city of Roseville stating she had 24 hours to clear the lawn or she’d be fined. She spent $120 getting the leaves removed in time. She has since filed a police report.

“I just couldn’t believe he would do a job and waste an hour and you didn’t get paid yourself,” Anderson said.
