Romulus police search for driver after hit-and-run leaves bicyclist critically injured

Police said the incident remains under active investigation

ROMULUS, Mich. – Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Romulus that left a bicyclist critically injured.

The incident occurred on Friday (May 8) around 6:37 p.m. in the area of 8500 Wickham Road.

Police and witnesses indicated that a 55-year-old Romulus man was riding his bicycle on Wickham Road when he was hit by a dark gray 2025 Ford Escape traveling southbound.

Officials said the driver did not stop after the collision and continued southbound on Wickham Road.

Police said the bicyclist suffered severe injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition.

Police said the incident remains under active investigation.
