City of Auburn Hills issues warning to businesses during Water Main Break

According to city officials, “Instances of water use for non-essential purposes during the State of Emergency will be investigated, and violators may be prosecuted.”

As officials from some communities in Northern Oakland County continue to work on their emergency response to the significant water main break, leaders in the City of Auburn Hills are issuing a warning to business owners in the city: “Don’t use water for non-essential purposes”.

In a press release posted to Facebook on Sunday afternoon, the Auburn Hills Police Department broke it down in their headline above the release, saying:

**NOTICE TO ALL AUBURN HILLS BUSINESSES** Instances of water use for non-essential purposes during the State of Emergency will be investigated, and violators may be prosecuted.

According to the press release, the City of Auburn Hills says, “Given the rapid nature of this situation and the critical need to preserve water supply for essential use, officials of the City of Auburn Hills strongly urge non-essential businesses and places of worship to consider suspending in-person operations and large gatherings until further notice”.

They go on to state:

The State of Emergency places the entire City of Auburn Hills under an ”emergency use only" restriction for water use until further notice. Instances of water use for non-essential purposes during the State of Emergency will be investigated, and violators may be prosecuted".

While also re-emphasizing the Boil Water Advisory that is in effect for areas of the City of Auburn Hills, north of Cross Creek Parkway and University Drive, water distribution will continue to be provided at several locations, including the Auburn Hills Department of Public Works, while the emergency outage remains in effect.
