NEW BOSTON, Mich. – A New Boston woman pleaded guilty in a $4.6 million child modeling fraud scheme.
Chanise Coyne, 46, pleaded guilty to a charge of wire fraud.
Officials say the woman admitted that she obtained over $4.6 million from a local family by claiming that money would be used for advance fees for the family’s young daughter in modeling events across the country.
Coyne also admitted that she generated false records, including fake text messages, emails, and invoices, said authorities.
The false records were related to the supposed placement of that young girl’s events.
Zero of the money was used in connection to the placement of the young girl in a single modeling event, said officials.
Authorities say instead, Coyne used the money for gambling.
Sentencing is set for September 1.
Coyne faces up to 20 years’ imprisonment.
“Coyne exploited a child’s dreams and ripped off a local family with her fake claims. But she will face real consequences,” stated U.S. Attorney Gorgon.
