MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. – Mackinac Island is hosting its annual policy conference with leaders in the state at the Grand Hotel.
The event is hosted by the Detroit Regional Chamber, and the conference will focus on major issues, including economy, healthcare, infrastructure, politics, and education.
At this time, there are 1.4 million students enrolled statewide from kindergarten to 8th grade.
According to experts, only 42.7% of third graders are proficient in math, and only 39.6% of third graders are proficient in reading.
