Warm temperatures and sunshine replaced heavy winter coats on Memorial Day as skiers and snowboarders made their final runs of the season at Boyne Mountain Resort.
The resort officially closed out its ski season on Monday (May 25), marking the latest end to the season in the resort’s history.

Despite temperatures climbing into the 70s, many visitors traded snow pants for shorts and T-shirts as they hit the slopes.
Late-May skiing is uncommon in Michigan, but resort officials said improvements in snow-making technology and staff members’ work helped extend the season well beyond its typical end date.
Boyne staff credited advancements in snow production systems, along with consistent maintenance throughout the winter and spring, for keeping enough snow on the slopes into late May.
