Pit bull mix euthanized after severe injuries in alleged animal abuse case by 18-year-old in Dearborn

Man is scheduled to appear in court on June 10 in the 19th District Court.

DEARBORN, Mich. – An 18-year-old man has been charged after police say they found a dog suffering from catastrophic injuries following reports of an animal being violently assaulted inside a home.

The incident occurred on Tuesday (May 26) at a residence on Chicago Street after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting that a dog was being assaulted inside the home.

When officers arrived, they said they located a 2-year-old pit bull mix suffering from severe injuries.

Police said the dog was transported to an emergency veterinary hospital in Allen Park, where veterinarians determined the injuries were too extensive for survival.

Officials said the dog was later euthanized due to the severity of the trauma.

Following an investigation, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office charged Singin Nelson, 18, with killing/torturing an animal, second degree.

Nelson was arraigned before and given a $250,000 cash bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 10 in the 19th District Court.

The investigation remains ongoing.
