Madison Heights reverses decision, restores drag queen story time to Pride event

The decision comes just days after the council voted 4-3 to remove drag queen story time from the event

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – The Madison Heights City Council reversed course, voting unanimously to restore a drag queen story time event to the city’s Arts and Pride celebration after removing it earlier in the week.

In a 6-0 vote on Friday (June 5) afternoon, council members approved moving the event forward to Saturday’s festivities.

The decision comes just days after the council voted 4-3 to remove drag queen story time from the event, sparking controversy and drawing public attention.

Under the revised plan, the story time performance will be held inside the Jaycee Building at Civic Center Park rather than outdoors.
