Road repaving in Orion Township and Oakland Township -- Here’s where and when

The work is being done by RCOC to provide a new surface on the roads

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A contractor for the Road Commission in Oakland County (RCOC) plans to resurface roads in both Oakland Township and Orion Township in coming weeks.

The work is being done as part of RCOC’s Preservation Overlay program to provide a new surface on the roads, extending road life span by five to ten years.

The contractor, Ajax Paving Company of Troy, will pulverize and compact existing pavement to use it as a base for four inches of new asphalt to be placed over.

Here’s the current road plan schedule

  • In Oakland Township: Work on Gunn Road from Adams Road west will begin on July 21 and 22, road repaving will begin the week of July 27.
  • In Orion Township: Roads work on Morgan Road, Rohr Road to Baldwin Road, will begin on July 23 and July 24, exact date for repaving is not yet set.

During the work, the road will be closed for through traffic.

Schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions.

According to the RCOC, new pavement on each of the roads is expected in the following weeks.
