The Calhoun County, 46, man chose to remain anonymous.

“I don’t play the lottery a lot, but whenever I feel like buying a ticket, I’ll buy one,” the man said, “When I saw it was a $1 million winner, I freaked out, it feels like I can breathe again.”

The man bought his winning ticket at Lakeview Liquor, located at 2497 Capital Avenue Southwest in Battle Creek.

He recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim the prize.

The man chose to receive his prize as a one-time lump sum payment of about $693,000 rather than annuity payments for the full amount.

With his winnings, he plans to buy a new car and then save the remainder.
