INKSTER, Mich. – The Inkster Police Department gathered Thursday evening to honor four officers who were killed in the line of duty, remembering their service and sacrifice during a candlelight vigil.
The ceremony recognized Officers Clay Hoover, Ira Parker and Daniel Dubiel, who were killed in 1987 during a hostage standoff at the Bungalow Motel in Inkster.
A candle was also lit in memory of Officer Kenneth Woodmore, who was killed in the line of duty in 1994.
Police officers, community members, and family members gathered to pay tribute to the fallen officers and reflect on the risks they face every day.
Speakers said the officers’ deaths serve as a reminder that no call is ever truly routine and that the sacrifices made by those who serve will not be forgotten.
“There is no greater love than when a man will lay down his life for a friend,” one speaker said during the vigil. “These gentlemen truly made the ultimate sacrifice for this community.”
The annual remembrance honors the legacy of the four officers and recognizes their lasting impact on the Inkster community and the police department.
