DETROIT – A 5-year-old child was shot on Detroit’s west side.

The shooting occurred on Tuesday (July 7) near a home on Lindsay Street, not far from 8 Mile Road and the Southfield Freeway, as the child was shot in the arm, according to police.

Police said the child’s father told a Local 4 photographer, Ebenezer Adjei, at the scene that the child is expected to recover.

No additional details, including the circumstances surrounding the shooting or whether a suspect has been identified, were immediately available.
