A world-renowned Polish youth ensemble devoted to early music

Scholares Minores pro Musica Antiqua is a celebrated Polish children’s and youth ensemble specializing in early music, repertoire from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque eras.

Founded in 1975 in Poniatowa, Poland, by musicologists Danuta and Witold Danielewicz, the group has earned an international reputation for presenting historical European music with authenticity and artistry far beyond what most audiences expect from a youth ensemble.

What makes Scholares Minores unique

Scholares Minores is known for performances that are both musically compelling and historically immersive. Their concerts often feature:

  • Authentic vocal and instrumental works from medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque traditions
  • Historical instruments such as viola da gamba, rebec, crumhorn, psaltery, and recorders
  • Period costumes and historical dance, helping audiences experience the music as it might have been heard—and seen—centuries ago

In other words, this is not simply a choir appearance. It’s a living, educational performance that blends singing, instruments, movement, and visual storytelling to recreate early European music in a way that feels immediate and unforgettable.
