MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A 57-year-old man who pleaded no contest in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of a King of Budz Cannabis store learned his sentence on Wednesday.
Abel Rivard of Roseville was charged with assault with intent to murder and felony firearm.

He was sentenced on July 29 to 2 to 30 years for assault, followed by a mandatory consecutive 2-year sentence for felony firearm.
The shooting happened back on May 23, 2025, at the King of Budz Cannabis Dispensary in Roseville.
Rivard got into an argument with another man, Martin Robinson of Clinton Township, in the parking lot. The argument continued inside the dispensary.
When both men returned to the parking lot, Rivard pulled a gun from his waistband and Robinson retreated. As Robinson was returning to his car, Rivard shot him, injuring him.
