PONTIAC – A 53-year-old Pontiac man was fatally shot and another man injured in a shooting Tuesday night at an apartment complex off W Kennett Road.
Investigators say deputies were dispatched to the North Hill Farms Apartments just before 10 p.m. after receiving reports about multiple gunshots being fired.
When officers arrived, they found a 39-year-old Pontiac man outside the apartment with a gunshot wound to his hand. Multiple bullet holes could be seen around the apartment’s front entrance, and the storm door had been shattered, police said. Several spent shell casings were also found on the ground.
Inside the apartment, deputies found the 53-year-old victim — identified as Jethro Jackson, Jr. — with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. First responders attempted to treat Jackson at the scene, but he died at the hospital as a result of his injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The 39-year-old victim was treated at McLaren Oakland Hospital and later released.
An investigation into the shooting incident is underway and an autopsy has been scheduled by the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Deputies are asking anyone with information about the shooting to reach out to the Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950 or report anonymously via Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP, where you may be eligible for up to $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest.
