MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A Detroit man accused of leading a police chase over stolen plants in Eastpointe early Friday morning is facing multiple felony charges.
Jeremy Johnson, 37, was charged with second-degree fleeing and eluding police, breaking and entering without breaking with intent, obstructing or resisting a police officer and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Johnson allegedly stole plants from English Gardens near 9 Mile and Kelly in Eastpointe at around 1:40 p.m. on Friday.

When police responded, they pulled over a pickup truck hauling a trailer with landscaping equipment, including a lawnmower. When police told the driver, later identified as Johnson, that he was being arrested for the theft of the plants, he allegedly drove off.
While Johnson was driving away from the traffic stop, an officer was run over by the trailer in the process. The officer is expected to be okay.
Police chased after Johnson to 8 Mile and Mound. During the chase, the items in the trailer began spilling out, including the lawnmower, after a tire blew out, leaving the lawnmower in the middle of Mound.

The chase later continued on foot, where the man allegedly threw chairs and other items at responding officers while running through a neighborhood. He was eventually tased and arrested.
Johnson was arraigned in court on Sept. 25, and his bond was set at $1 million.
According to the arraigning judge, Johnson has a criminal history. He was previously convicted of larceny and resisting a police officer.
