1 arrested after driving away from police during traffic stop near I-96 in Detroit

DETROIT – Police arrested one person after conducting a traffic enforcement detail near I-96 in Detroit on Wednesday.

Michigan State Police conducted a traffic enforcement detail near I-96 and Joy Road in Detroit on Thursday, Aug. 20. Within the hour, troopers recorded the following:

  • 21 traffic stops
  • 23 citations
  • 7 verbal warnings
  • Highest speed: 113 mph in a 70 mph zone
  • 2 misdemeanor arrests
  • 1 felony arrest

The traffic enforcement detail ended early after police said someone drove away from a trooper during a traffic stop. The trooper got the car’s license plate number and began an investigation.

Within an hour, police found the driver and arrested them for fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, and multiple outstanding misdemeanor warrants.
